Healthy Family Fun Night Feb. 6, 2010
ByBISMARCK, N.D. – The University of Mary Harold Schafer Leadership Academy students and the YMCA are once again joining up for Healthy Family Fun Night to be held Saturday, February 6th from 6:30 – 8:30 at the Missouri Valley YMCA. The night will be filled with exercise incorporated games, healthy snacks, and prizes while bringing families together for educational fun on how to keep kids healthy and strong.
Leadership Academy teacher Kayla Campbell says, “Our students have learned so much from planning for this year’s event. They have gained insights into the organization that is necessary to make an event like this successful.” The students’ goals are to reach out to the community, offering fun and informative presentations about living a healthy lifestyle through good nutrition, exercise, positive self-esteem, and quality time with friends and family. “This project wouldn’t have been possible without the communication, support and cooperation from businesses and professionals in the community,” said Campbell. “This is the fifth year we have been involved in partnering with the YMCA in organizing Healthy Family Fun Night, and have found it to be a very rewarding and fun experience. It is the students’ hope that the community will enjoy and participate in the activities they have planned and that will be provided,” Campbell continued.
This event is free and open to kids grades K-6 from the Bismarck-Mandan area. Children must be accompanied by an adult to come and play at the YMCA!
