From 1954, Killers from Space is a bad movie according to co-hosts Anita Casey-Reed and Jackson Bird. They both agree, however, that it is a fun movie to watch. There are lots of stock footage and a lack of special effects in this low budget film.

In this movie, aliens come to Earth and they want our atomic energy. A young Peter Graves stars and W. Lee Wilder directs.

Bird’s and Casey-Reed’s discussion, along with the entire film is now available online!

This conversation includes a television clip of the first step on the moon. The 1969 event of the Apollo 11 moon landing predates many of the people who are alive today. Humanities scholar and author, Clay S. Jenkinson and Bismarck State College President Larry C. Skogen discuss the history of the first walk on the moon and relate some of their memories of the time.

Watch Conversations with Clay Jenkinson – The Day Neil Armstrong Walked on the Moon (4/25/10) on Video On Demand. (To view this show online, you will need Windows Media Player.)

These are conversations they both believe North Dakotans need to have. Their goal is to help people of the state reconnect with key events in their history within a broader social context and to spotlight Bismarck State College as an important player in promoting humanities within the community. These programs were funded in part by the North Dakota Humanities Council.
