Spotlight North Dakota – The Radio Stars
Posted by: | CommentsThe Radio Stars, a band from Fargo, plays a variety of music, with a special treatment of both modern and traditional Western-style music. The band includes “Magic” Merrill Piepkorn, guitars, harmonica and vocals; Gregg “Smokey” Temple, guitars including pedal steel and vocals; Roger “R.P.” Sell, Bass guitar and vocals; and Alex Rydell, fiddle and vocals.

Spotlight North Dakota – Germans, Japanese & Italians: Unwelcome in North Dakota
Posted by: | CommentsIn 1941, by presidential proclamation, any “enemy alien” in the U.S. could be detained without any recourse. Ft. Lincoln, one mile south of Bismarck, was one of the many internment camps set up to detain persons of German, Japanese, and Italian descent during World War II. Many of those detained were U.S. citizens. Marilyn Snyder and Scott Schaffnit present this story.
