Bismarck Snow Removal Operations

January 22, 2010 by Dakota Media Access 2

As the winter storm develops and we receive more than 4 inches of snow, plows will begin clearing emergency routes and major arterial streets. Once the storm is passed and these routes are open, plows will move into residential areas.

Sanding crews will continue as needed.

A reminder to businesses and residents:
After a snow fall, please move vehicles from streets to aid in snow removal operation. Keep them off the street until the plows have cleaned the street.

It is illegal to push, shovel or blow snow into public right-of-ways, the street, across the street, alley, or onto another person’s property. The fine for this violation is up to $1000 and 30 days in jail.

It is the property owner’s responsibility to clear snow around their mailbox. If it is a cluster box, it is the responsibility of those residents to clear the snow from around the cluster box.
