Applications Sought for Bismarck Planning & Zoning Commission

BISMARCK, N.D. – Bismarck Mayor John Warford is looking for candidates interested in serving on the Bismarck Planning and Zoning Commission. The volunteer committee has one open position. Anyone residing in the City of Bismarck is eligible for this appointment.

Interested applicants should complete an application form describing their qualifications, background and why they would like to serve on the Commission. Completed applications should be sent to:

Forms can also be mailed by calling the Community Development Department at 701- 355-1840 or may be picked up at the Community Development office at 221 N 5th Street, Bismarck. Additional information on the position and the appointment process can also be obtained by contacting Community Development.

The deadline for applications is Friday, June 4, 2010. The new board member will be announced at the June 22, 2010, Board of City Commissioners’ meeting.

The City Planning and Zoning Commission is an eleven-member advisory board appointed by the Bismarck City Commission to guide the logical and orderly development of the City by means of a comprehensive land use plan. The Planning and Zoning Commission reviews and conducts public hearings on development applications such as zoning changes, subdivision plats, annexations, special use permits and Zoning Ordinance text amendments; and makes recommendations to the Board of City Commissioners.

The Planning and Zoning Commission board meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at 5:00 p.m. in the City-County Building, 221 N 5th Street, Bismarck. For more information visit www.bismarck.org
