RESIDENTS URGED TO MAINTAIN VIGILANCE OF FLOOD CONDITIONS
Bismarck, ND – The Cities of Bismarck and Mandan and the Counties of Burleigh and Morton are urging residents to leave their sandbags in place.  The National Weather Service has forecasted a blizzard tonight and/or tomorrow which may bring 6-12” of snow followed by a slow warm-up.  Local officials are concerned that the ice jams may break up and reform downstream as a result of this warm up which will potentially produce overland flooding.  Apple Creek has not started to flow and rapid snow melt may also cause overland flooding.

Again, we are urging residents to keep their sandbags in place and remain vigilant with upcoming weather patterns and water flow.  The combination of the additional snowfall, warming temperatures, and continuing risks with ice jam may cause severe overland flooding in the coming week.

Please stay tuned to your local media for additional information.
