Second Chance Job Fair to Take Place April 30

Bismarck, N.D. – The Second Chance Job Fair will take place April 30, from 5:30 – 8:00 PM, at Job Service North Dakota, 1601 East Century Ave., and Bismarck. The Second Chance Job Fair is a project adapted under the North Dakota Transition from Prison to Community initiative and supported by state and local officials to facilitate an improved network of services in the community. “These services are designed to assist ex-offenders by decreasing barriers to employment and helping to make Bismarck-Mandan a better place to live by reducing crime and providing career opportunities for ex-offenders” said Marcus Roehrich, U.S. Probation Services. “The sense of pride and responsibility that accompany a good job is important to the continued mental and social well being of this unique population and reduces the likelihood of re-offending.”

According to Phil Davis, Job Service North Dakota, “The Second Chance Job Fair provides an opportunity to bring the target group of prospective employees in direct contact with employers that are aware of their status and willing to hire them. Employers may also benefit financially from employing individuals from this group as they may qualify for the Work Opportunity Tax Credit of up to $2,400 per hire”, said Davis.
