Bismarck Children’s Library Renovation Project Update Construction to begin mid-May
Bismarck, N.D. - The Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library Board of Directors has accepted low bids and authorized construction to renovate the Children’s Library beginning mid-May. With the final plans in place and the bids in, the cost is now set at just under $643,000.
Successful contractors were:
General – Dakota West Contracting, Inc.
Mechanical – H.A. Thompson & Sons
Electrical – Ennen Electric
Renovation funding in the amount of $621,000 has been raised in cash or pledges or pledges by the Library Foundation, Inc., in a volunteer campaign co-chaired by Erik Sakariassen and Richard Weber.
When complete in November, 2009, the Children’s Library will show a completely new look. An exciting entranceway, a large central “picture book” area located under a tree canopy, a sky ceiling mural and wall murals, along with updated technology and a refurbished story room will greet young visitors. In the meantime during construction, the Children’s collection and programming will move downstairs during the summer months.
Several naming opportunities are still available for new furnishings, shelving upgrades and new general seating. To contribute to the completion of the project, contact Gayle Schuck, Library Foundation Development Director at 701.355.1494.
