Sewer Use Restrictions for South Bismarck Continue
Posted by: | CommentsBISMARCK, N.D. – Utility crews worked late into the night on the south Bismarck sewer main repair but were not successful in repairing the leak. Additional work is required and is expected to be completed on Thursday. Residents in the affect area are asked to continue to reduce water usage by delaying dishwashing, showers, baths, and laundry if possible until the repair is completed. Residents will be notified through local media when the repair is completed. Residents should avoid contact with water in the drainage ditch until further notice.

South Bismarck Sewer Main Break
Posted by: | CommentsBISMARCK, N.D. – Residents of south Bismarck are urged to reduce the discharge of water to the sanitary sewer system until further notice. The City of Bismarck is working to repair a leak on a sewage main and the sewer system will have limited capacity until the repair is complete.
The affected area is south of Bismarck Expressway between Washington Street and Airport Road. Residents in the affected area are asked to delay dishwashing, showers, baths, and laundry if possible until further notification that the repair is completed.
Some sewage has been temporarily discharged to the South Bismarck storm water channel as a result of this problem. Residents should avoid contact with the water in the drainage ditch until it has been cleaned up.

Bismarck Human Relations Committee Announces 2011 Humanitarian Award Recipient
Posted by: | CommentsBISMARCK, N.D. – The Bismarck Human Relations Committee selected Century 21 Morrison Realty as the recipient of the 2011 Humanitarian Award. Jerry, Bill and Kay Schlosser were presented with the Humanitarian Award by Mayor John Warford and the Bismarck Human Relations Committee today at the City County Building before an audience of approximately 30 realtors.
The Bismarck Human Relations Committee Humanitarian Award honors an individual, business or organization that has exhibited leadership in the areas of human and civil rights with a focus upon recognizing those that educate, identify issues and address human rights concerns.
Century 21 Morrison was selected for their outstanding humanitarianism, support, and generosity in helping Pride Manchester House, a private, nonprofit psychiatric residential treatment center serving North Dakota’s youngest children with severe emotional and behavioral problems.
Susan Gerenz and Sue Chaussee, Pride Manchester House, nominated and wrote that “Century 21 Morrison Realty responded to their wish list of many things; durable furniture, video games, a zoo membership, movie tickets, art, music and swimming lessons as well as a visit from Santa with gifts. Century 21 Morrison Realty also sponsors a summer charity auction with all proceeds going to local charity programs including the Pride Manchester House.”
“With a focus upon recognizing those that educate, identify issues and address human rights concerns, Century 21 Morrison Realty in partnership with Pride Manchester House has helped identify the needs of North Dakota’s most vulnerable children and responded with concern and generosity,” said Sonvy Sammons, Chair, Human Relations Committee. “Pride Manchester House has learned about fund raising activities, leadership skills and the need for public education about our treatment program,” said the nominators. “Century 21Morrison Realty has impacted our community in remarkable and innumerable ways…with their spirit of humanitarianism, making small miracles a common occurrence, touching the lives of others by offering unexpected hope and support,” said Pride Manchester House nominators.
The mission of the Bismarck Human Relations Committee is to protect and promote the personal dignity of all Bismarck citizens and eliminate any discriminatory barriers that prevent them from reaching their full human potential.
Mayor Warford also read the Proclamation of Human Rights Day and proclaimed Dec. 10, 2011, Human Rights Day in Bismarck, in recognition of the inherent dignity, and equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family as the foundation of freedom, justice and peace.
