Road Closure – Old Red Trail from 8th Ave. NW to Sunset Drive

Beginning today at approximately 3:00 p.m. Old Red Trail from 8th Ave. NW to Sunset Drive will be closed to all traffic. The closure is necessary to complete phase III construction and rehabilitation of the Old Red Trail and Sunset Drive intersection. The road closure and construction is expected to last two weeks.
City of Mandan and Morton County Fireworks Ordinance

The City of Mandan permits fireworks for 3 days in July. The possession, use, discharge, or explosion of fireworks, not including bottle rockets, will be permitted July 2nd and 3rd from noon to midnight and on July 4th from noon to 2 am on the 5th. The City of Mandan citizens are asked for compliance with the ordinance established by the Mandan City Commission. Violations are punishable by a fine of $75.00.
Morton County allows fireworks to be sold and ignighted June 27th through July 5th. The Morton County Sheriff Department policty permits fireworks detonation June 27th through July 3rd and July 5th until 11:00 pm and July 4th until 2 am on the 5th. Citizens not complying will receive a verbal warning and if an officer is called back on a second fireworks complaint an action of arrest for Disorderly Conduct may occur. The City of New Salem, City of Glen Ullin, City of Hebron and City of Flasher are bound by their own city ordinance dealing with hours of firework detonation.
City of Bismarck Planner Recognized in North Dakota Business Watch “40 Under 40”

Bismarck, N.D. - Jason Tomanek, a Planner with the City of Bismarck has been selected for recognition in the North Dakota Business Watch “40 Under 40” regional business magazine. Nominations were sought for individuals under 40 and were solicited from Chambers of Commerce, and business and community leaders from across Western North Dakota for young leaders who show outstanding drive and promise, excel in their field, and that have shown strong leadership and community commitment.
Jason’s commitment to the Bismarck community, downtown development and planning, and the ease in which he avails himself as a resource to the community was particularly significant in his nomination. As one of forty in North Dakota selected to be recognized, Jason is featured in a special June issue of Business Watch.
Jason is a graduate of NDSU and holds as Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Design and Landscape Architecture with an emphasis in Natural Resource Management and Land Reclamation and has been employed with the City of Bismarck Community Development Department for the past 3 years.

Strategic Vision Plan Steering Committee Meeting June 22

The Mandan Vision Plan Steering Committee will hold a working session June 22 at 9 a.m. at the Seven Seas Inn, Mandan.
The purpose of the session is to adopt a community vision statement and identify priorities for implementation of a strategic plan.
Bismarck-Mandan Chamber and Market Street Services staff will facilitate the session.
The Chamber is spearheading this strategic vision planning process for Mandan with contributions from private businesses. Joining in the effort are the City of Mandan, the Mandan Public School District and Mandan Park District.
The goal of the project is to create a new roadmap to strengthen Mandan’s economy, enhance quality of life and provide direction as to what residents want to see from their community.
